I am passionate about giving back to the communities I live in. Currently, as a resident of Michigan’s capitol, I serve as a youth leader. I love investing in the lives of teenagers and providing them with the mentorship they need at this formative age. Everywhere I have been, I do my best to leave my mark; below are a few of my favorites:
Teaching martial arts has always been more than a hobby: inspiring students (adults and children alike) to achieve their goals has been an incredible experience. Before they hired me in an official capacity, I was a volunteer for my local domestic violence resource center. As heavy as the topics are, this work of educating the community is so important. As a reading interventionist, I get to help elementary kids who are struggling to keep up with their grade level: watching them grow and seeing the LIGHT BULB when they learn something new is a highlight! This little village is not known by many, but it is the magical location that Make a Wish kids and their families stay when they visit Walt Disney World. With the teens I mentor, we talk about important life skills (mental health, boundaries, resume writing, etc.) but we also love to have fun!At several dance studios across Michigan, I have had the honor of teaching students between 3 and 15 – they are a lot of fun!
